Our Sessions
All children are greeted with a warm welcome, they are encouraged to hang up their belongings on their peg and to complete self registration. The environment is ready and waiting for them to explore, families are invited to accompany their child and help settle them in.
We plan in the moment, following children's interests and extending them through sensitive interventions. We value giving children time to play to allow them to become deeply engaged. When children are deeply engaged, their brain is developing and new synapses are forming, so we aim to keep this time as uninterrupted as possible. By carefully observing the children, our practitioners know when to intervene and when to stand back and observe to ensure all children make progress.
We offer a healthy snack consisting of fruit, vegetables, a carbohydrate and a drink of water or milk within a forty five minute window each session. Children are given the autonomy to choose whether or not they wish to have a snack. A member of staff supports children at the snack table, where children help themselves to food, pour their own drink and use glass and china crockery.
We play outdoors in all weathers, everything from pottering in our mud kitchen, building dens and channelling water to bug hunting, observing wildlife and experiencing the elements. Throughout the day we read stories, sing, make marks and take part in yoga or dancing led by the children's interests and ideas. We love the fact that every day is different and full of possibilities and aim to create a nurturing environment where all children can thrive.
